OnCare: Palliative Care Centre at Mumbai
Inaugurated in 2017, SP Group in partnership with reputed oncologists has set up ‘OnCare’ a daycare centre that focuses on palliative care.
The OnCare Centre is located at Masina hospital, Mumbai and provides palliative care to patients suffering from serious illnesses through various well-planned therapeutic interventions. Yoga, music therapy, arts and craft workshops, and mindfulness and nutritional workshops are conducted daily to provide a peaceful and positive space for cancer patients and their families.
The patient’s palliative medical care needs, especially pain management, are met by expert palliative care doctors.
There are also trained counsellors for group and individual counselling sessions. The centre has well-trained physiotherapists and occupational therapists who provide assistance with speech therapy and lymphedema management, as per the specific needs of the patients.
Patients and caregivers are served nutritional meals and hot beverages throughout the day. Transport facility is also provided for an easy commute.
Milestones Achieved:
- 375 patients registered with OnCare within 2 years of operations, an average of 20 patients visiting daily
- Patients and family members that come to OnCare on a regular basis have derived a great benefit from various programs - feeling happy and comforted and in a positive frame of mind, which helps them battle the disease better
